Go-Gather-Grow-Go

Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Matthew 25:44

As we start our 14th year at Grace Harvest I want to thank each of you who have served the Lord Jesus Christ faithfully during your time as a member. It is because of the obedience of His children that many have heard the Gospel preached, been  ministered to, and have seen the love of Christ lived out in your lives.

As we go out and share the Gospel and love of Jesus, gather people into His body at Grace Harvest, and grow them in   Christian love, we need to be diligent to always be going. What does that look like? I want to share with you three areas where you can participate in the going process.

First, the Respite ministry. This ministry was stared in 2014  The Daily Planet’s Medical Respite for the Homeless is a place where people who have been discharged from the hospital but have no one to take care of them and no home can go to can stay while they get needed care.  On the last Saturday of each month our church ministers to these folks by providing a home-cooked meal, short sermon, Bibles, reading glasses, prayer   and fellowship. We bring love, kindness, encouragement,   hope, comfort and the truth of God’s word to those who are physically ill and in difficult circumstances. This is a Ministry of Service and Evangelism if you are interested in serving in this ministry or would like further information please contact      Victoria Pitrelli at 804-350-2847

Second, Nursing home ministry. This ministry was also started in 2014. On the second Sunday of each month we go to the Amelia nursing home to minister to the residents, staff, and their families. We offer  worship music, a short sermon, prayer and snacks.  We bring love, kindness, joy, hope and the comfort of worship songs and God’s word to the elderly who are often lonely and isolated. If you would like to serve in our nursing home ministry please contact Kevin Lanham at 804-205-8728.

Third, Pregnancy support center. This is a new ministry for GHBC. Pregnancy Support Center of Southside Virginia    (“PSC”) has been dedicated to helping women, men, teens    and families in Southside Virginia since 1984.

PSC offers free and confidential pregnancy testing, prenatal and infant care classes, baby clothes and supplies, parenting classes, assistance and referrals for medical care, and character development programs. PSC currently has their central office in           Farmville, and 2 separate satellite locations in Dillwyn and in Appomattox.  Due to PSC’s tremendous growth, a new satellite office is set    to open in late October in Amelia. PSC is currently looking for volunteers to help set up the new Amelia location and help to maintain its boutique and offices. If you feel led to serve in this ministry, even if you only have a couple of hours a month to spare, please consider volunteering as an advocate working directly with clients, or as a volunteer helping maintain the   facilities.  This is a great opportunity to introduce these          unchurched and broken people to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Please contact Angela Seamster at 804-218-2943 for more    information.

Please prayerfully consider serving in one of our outreach  ministries.

Your shepherd,

Pastor Mark
