“Be angry and do not sin;” – Ephesians 4:26

Most of the time I get angry it is because of my sinful  nature. This is made clear when James writes,  “The anger  of man does not produce the righteousness of God” (James 1:20). My anger most of the time is more concerned with me than with God.

This week has produced in me an anger that is not sinful. When explaining Gods righteous anger John Piper writes, “Righteous anger is being angry at what makes God angry. And “righteous anger” is the right word order. Because God is not fundamentally angry. He is fundamentally righteous. God’s anger is a byproduct of his righteousness.” So what is it that makes God angry? God gets angry when there is a violation of His character. God is righteous, just, and holy, and none of these attributes can be compromised (Exodus 20:4–6; Isaiah 42:8).

This week I have I have been angry and I pray I have not sinned. This past Monday, February 25, 2019, the United States Senate voted on S.130 – Born-Alive Abortion  Survivors Protection Act. If passed it would have protected babies who survived an abortion, making it a crime to not try to save the life of the baby. It needed 60 votes to past it received 53 votes. It failed to pass because 44 Democratic senators voted that is ok to murder a baby outside of the womb.

Take a moment and ponder the severity of this vote. In the United States of America 44 Senators voted that the murder of a baby outside of the womb is OK. This is not the evil  Nazi (The National Socialist German Workers’ Party)     regime in 1939 or the evil USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). This is Democratic Senators of the United States of America approving infanticide. If this does not shock you, anger you and make you grieve the love of Christ does not live in you. Do not be mistaken God is not mocked (Galatians 6:7). There is a day coming when all will stand before a Holy God and give an account. There will be many with innocent blood on their hands and God hates those who shed innocent blood (Proverbs 6:16-196).

Next time you vote take a look at how your senator voted  on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. This is not about a party this is about where you stand when it comes to protecting what God created in His image. I pray that God will have mercy on those who support the killing  of babies and may they come to know Him as Lord and    Savior. Because if it was not for God’s love for me I would  be one condemned before a Holy and righteous God. As Paul confessed I am chief amongst sinners. But Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose from the dead to set me free. It is by God’s grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone that.  I am no longer a slave to sin but a salve to righteousness.

Your shepherd,

Pastor Mark
