The Lord has prepared everything for his purpose. Proverbs 16:4
Think about that for just a moment. God is the creator of heaven and earth and everything that dwells there in. He is in control of everything in order for His will to be done. R.C. Sproul said, “If there is one single molecule in this universe running around loose, totally free of God’s sovereignty, then we have no guarantee that a single promise of God will ever be fulfilled.”
Since God is in control it should free Christians from worry and anxiety. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7). Jesus Himself spoke to us about worry and anxiety, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?…Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you (Matthew 6:25,31-33).
When you can rest easy in knowing the Lord has prepared everything for His purpose, you can live a life of peace and joy in the midst of the darkest valley. Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved (Psalm 55:22).
