Pastor’s Pen 4/7/2019

I call upon you, for your will answer me, O God; incline your ear to me; hear my words.

Psalm 17:6

As Christians we have a privilege that non-believers do not have, we can pray to God our Father in Heaven. As we have seen in Hebrews, Jesus is our High Priest who makes intercession for us (Hebrews 7:25). Jesus is the reason that God hears our prayers. We have access to God because we were purchased by the blood of His son.  Yet this is a privilege that so many Christians neglect. Paul writes, Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you (Thessalonians 5:16-18). There has been times that I have struggled in my prayer life for various reasons. When I have been in that place, I have always gone to the Psalms and prayed them to God. It doesn’t take long before I’m back on track and praying without ceasing. In the “Got Questions” section of today’s bulletin, you will find some great answers to the question, “What is the key to effective prayer?” I hope it is a benefit and encouragement to you.

Your shepherd,

Pastor Mark
