The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Genesis 6:5

We have all seen the tragic results of George Floyd,  a black man, who was murdered by a white police officer in Minnesota. That officer will face the consequences for his action and probably spend the rest of his life behind bars. Many have peacefully protested around the country to what the perceive as systemic racism within all police departments. Many others have used this opportunity to loot, burn and destroy other people’s property.

This is not a race issue or an anger issue or a greed issue. It is an issue of the heart. All men are depraved and without Christ will act like their father the devil (John 8:44). We should not be surprised by what is happening around us. As believers in Jesus Christ we  must be the salt and light to this world. During this time of unrest people need to see hope and they need to see it in you. Does your life reflect the love that we see described in 1 Corinthians 13? Does your life reflect an obedience to God with a Romans 12 attitude? If not stop and examine yourself and ask yourself the tuff question, “Why not”? What hinders you from being salt and light? What say you Christian will you be salt and light for our Lord and Savior Jesus?

Your shepherd,

Pastor Mark
