He removes kings and establishes kings. Daniel 2:21
This is an election year, and you may feel anxious about the outcome this upcoming Nov. 5th. As a follower of Christ, it is hard to watch what has happened to our country over the years. We have a sitting Supreme Court Judge who would not answer when asked to define what a woman was. Even though the Supreme Court struck down Roe V. Wade, abortions are still legal in many states. The open borders and the election of progressive district attorneys in many cities have many Americans concerned for the future of our nation.
Like the Nation of Israel during the times of the Kings, we have turned our back on God. Even the Republican party platform for 2024 has acquiesced to the changing culture. At President Trump’s urging, the Republican party has backed off from ending all abortions. Trump made it clear he supports the legal use of medication to murder children. USA Today reported from the first Presidential debate the following;
During the CNN Presidential Debate on Thursday night, former President Donald Trump said he wouldn’t block abortion medication if he is re-elected when asked a question about his stance on reproductive rights. He noted that the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a challenge to mifepristone, the pill commonly used in medication abortions, said he agrees with that decision, “and I will not block it.”
So, what is a Christian to do when both candidates support the murder of the unborn? We must understand we are not voting for someone who will lead our church. Neither man would qualify to be an Elder at Grace Harvest. We are voting for a “Caesar” that will affect our lives in the future. These are not Christian men who seek to glorify God and obey His commands.
I have heard Christians say that they cannot vote for either candidate. I want every Christian to vote. We must understand that we are privileged to participate in who will lead this country.
Even though we may not agree with everything that President Trump stands for, he is the candidate who most aligns with preserving families and giving Christians the freedom to continue to worship without the fear of being convicted of some hate crime for calling sin, sin.
No matter what happens this November, we know it is God’s sovereign will. He removes kings and establishes kings. Not one person leads their nation that God has not appointed.
“Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist have been appointed by God” (Romans 13:1).
Your shepherd,
Pastor Mark
