But the Lord was pleased; To crush Him, putting Him to grief

Isaiah 53:10

Welcome to Grace Harvest Baptist Church on this Easter Sunday. As we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ let us remember the cost of our salvation. God allowed His Son to suffer at the hands of wicked men. He was mocked, spit on, beaten, and crucified for the salvation of all that would believe in Him. It is hard to imagine that the will of God would be for His Son to be crushed for our sakes. When Jesus hung on that cross, God the Father, poured out all of His wrath against sin unto His Son. How many of us would die for someone who was evil. Yet that is what God did for you.

Before we came to Christ we hopeless sinners were doomed to hell. We were separated from God because the sin in our lives prevented us from a relationship with Him. But praise be to God that yet while we were still sinners, He sent His Son to suffer and die on the cross in order to pay for our sins. The story does not end there. God did not just sacrifice His Son on the cross and leave Him in the grave, but three days later He raised Him from the dead. When Jesus rose from the dead He defeated death once and for all for everyone who would make Him Lord and Savior. So, we can come together this Sunday and rejoice that as His children we too will be raised from the dead to be with Him forever. But, in the meantime, let us live this life as faithful, obedient followers of Jesus.

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life

Romans 6:4

Your Shepherd,

Pastor Mark
