He Has Risen

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

1 Corinthians 15:3-4

Today, we gather as the Bride of Christ to celebrate His victory over death. This Sunday is glorious, and because of what Christ accomplished on the cross, we can cry out, “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”

Jesus rose from the dead just as He said He would do; Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men; 23 and they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day (Matthew 17:22-23).” But the Old Testament as well predicted His death on the cross and His resurrection.

His Death

o   And Abraham said, “God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” So the two of them walked on together. Gen 22:8

o   He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth. Is. 53:7

His Burial

o   So His grave was assigned with wicked men, Yet He was with a rich man in His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth. Isaiah 53:9

His Resurrection

o   For You will not forsake my soul to Sheol; You will not give Your Holy One over to see corruption. Ps 16:10

As we worship our risen Savior today and every day let us rejoice knowing that this world is not our home, death will not defeat us, and one day, when this life is over, we will be with Him forever.

Your shepherd,

Pastor Mark
