Stand Firm and Press On

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:58

Graduates, you are stepping into a new season of life—one filled with opportunity, uncertainty, and countless voices telling you what matters most. Some will tell you to chase success, others to pursue comfort, and many will urge you to define your own truth. But God’s Word gives you something far better: a clear and unchanging calling: stand firm and press on.

Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 15:58 conclude a chapter focused on the resurrection, which is significant. Your stability in life isn’t based on circumstances, accomplishments, or future plans, but on the unshakeable truth that Christ has risen. Because He lives, your faith remains firm, your future is protected, and your efforts hold eternal significance.

Being steadfast means staying grounded when everything around you changes. College, careers, and new settings will challenge your beliefs. You will encounter pressure- intellectual, social, and moral. Stay firm. Avoid adjusting your convictions to suit the situation. Anchor yourself firmly in Scripture, the gospel, and your local church.

To be immovable means not being easily swayed. This doesn’t mean stubbornness for its own sake, but a settled confidence in Christ. When others compromise, you hold fast. When truth is questioned, you stand on what God has said, not on what feels right, but on what is right.

Paul pushes further: always abounding in the work of the Lord. The Christian life is not just about avoiding sin or holding the line—it’s about active, joyful service. Wherever God takes you, you do not leave ministry behind. You are the ministry. Whether in a classroom, the workplace, or at home, your life is meant to overflow with obedience, love, and gospel witness.
